WhatsApp allows you to start a group call without disturbing others member

WhatsApp has introduced a set of new video calling features just in time for the holiday season, enhancing its usability for both personal and professional calls. These updates include improved participant selection for group calls, higher-quality resolution, and a revamped calls interface on the desktop app. With these changes, Meta is positioning WhatsApp as a strong contender against platforms like Google Meet and Zoom.

Previously, WhatsApp allowed users in group chats to initiate calls with all members of the group. However, there are instances when you might want to avoid involving everyone in the conversation. To address this, WhatsApp is rolling out a feature that lets users select specific participants from a group chat when starting a group call. This update is particularly useful if you’re aware of who is available to talk or if you’re coordinating something like a surprise for someone within the group.

In addition to this functionality, WhatsApp is introducing fun video call effects. These include playful options like adding puppy ears, a setting that takes you underwater, or a feature that places a karaoke microphone in your hands, making calls more engaging and entertaining.

The desktop app is also receiving significant updates, with a redesigned call tab that prominently features buttons for starting calls, creating call links, and dialing numbers. Moreover, the platform is boosting resolution for both one-on-one and group calls on mobile and desktop devices.

Notable additions include support for up to 32 participants, a speaker spotlight feature to emphasize the active speaker in group calls, and the ability to share screens with audio. Given that many businesses and organizations rely on WhatsApp for internal communication, these upgrades further strengthen its appeal as a reliable tool for work-related video calls.
