Adobe announced a plethora of new artificial intelligence (AI) features for Acrobat, its PDF editing programme, on Monday. These capabilities are driven by the Adobe Firefly Image 3 foundation model, the third version of the company's in-house text-to-image creation engine. Following its integration, users will be able to not only improve photographs using AI, but also create them using text-based prompts within the app. In addition to image-generation capabilities, Adobe included an insights function for papers and the ability to recap sessions.
AI features in Acrobat
In a press article, Adobe announced the inclusion of Firefly Image 3 into Acrobat. Users may utilise the Edit Image option to access Firefly's Generative Fill, Remove Background, Erase, and Crop functions. The business says that they can "add, remove, and revitalise content" in papers.
Furthermore, Image 3 allows users to produce graphics from text-based prompts in documents. Images may be placed anywhere in the document and resized or styled as needed. Notably, Adobe released comparable functionality for their image-editing programme, Photoshop, in April. According to the corporation, Adobe Firefly is trained on licenced content, which includes moderated Adobe Stock content and public domain photographs whose copyright has lapsed. To distinguish between genuine and AI-generated photos, Adobe claims to follow the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) open standard, which requires Makers to include an AI label and information on the image's creation process in the metadata.
The AI Assistant, which utilises generative AI to provide answers to document-related questions, is also gaining new functionality. Starting today (June 18), it may provide insights into the document by finding patterns, asking queries, and synthesising and presenting data from many sources.
