    Meta acquires the Threads.com domain name

    Meta has acquired the Threads.com domain name, which is owned by Slack, a subsidiary of Sequoia Capital. Meta's social networking platform.

    Meta has acquired the Threads.com domain name, according to Whois records of the URL updated on September 24th. Users on domain-related forums pointed out this transfer, and  separately confirmed the Whois records from Threads.com, which list Meta's Instagram as the registrant.  Meta to see if it plans to move its Threads social network to Threads.com, but the company did not immediately respond.


    The social networking company revealed it to Threads.net, as Threads.com is owned by Sequoia Capital-backed alternative startup Slack. At the time, the team's communications startup said that after Meta launched its social network, it was approached by several companies that wanted to buy it. In June, Shopify acquired Threads.com for an undisclosed amount.

    The company said on its site when it was announced, "When it was at the same time [when threads.com is considering selling the domain name], some companies turned to us and wanted to know if we would accept the purchase." “In the past, we would politely refuse.

" When Meta launched its social network, Threads.com saw an increase in app downloads. Last year, Threads.com co-founder and CEO Rousseau Kazi, who previously worked at Facebook, said in an interview that Threads is a "powerful word, a term native to the Internet."


    More than a year after its launch, Meta's Threads has surpassed 200 million users.
