The Android Google Map has been updated on the interface that was redesigned earlier this year and is ultimately deployed to users in multiple regions. The new interface comes with a bottom sheet layout. Instead of displaying the edge and edge of the menu, information, it is displayed in a round sheet that does not cover the entire space. Changes have also been made to the directions and navigation page, and most of the information displayed at the top of the screen has been moved to the bottom sheet. It is worth noting that the updated interface was first noticed in February. Updated Google Maps interface is widely distributed
The new interface was introduced in Google Maps version 11.136.0101 for Android. Gadgets 360 had access to the new interface with all the redesigned elements. The update is now available to everyone and compatible devices should receive it in the coming days. It is unclear when the updated interface will be available for iOS users, where the app still displays the old interface. First spotted in February, the new layout follows Google's Material Design 3 guidelines and includes in-app background sheets, making the overall look less cluttered and more exciting. The search bar and navigation menu at the top of the screen (where users add origins and destinations) don't take up all the space, and the edge-to-edge layout has been replaced with rounded corners, which means users can still see parts of the map in both top corners. On the other hand, most of the information that was previously visible at the top of the screen has now been moved to the bottom sheet.
For example, location information and navigation options will be displayed at the bottom – this includes the distance between two locations and the expected time to get there. Notably, the sheet now also has curved edges, allowing users to see more of the map through corners that were previously completely hidden. The new view is both more immersive and more functional, as it shows more context on the page. The location screen now features a share icon, allowing you to quickly send the information via messaging, social media, or other compatible apps.
