Elon Musk, never one to shy away from sharing his thoughts on leadership and work ethic, recently praised Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang's hands-on approach to X, emphasizing a shared philosophy that values solving the tiniest of issues.
Musk's praise came in response to a video of Mr. Huang reminiscing about his early days at Denny's. "I don't have a task that isn't worth it, because remember, I was a dishwasher," Huang said in an interview in March at Stanford University's Graduate School of Business. “I used to clean toilets. I clean a lot of toilets. I've cleaned more toilets than all of you combined.Huang explained that the experience gave him a deep respect for all types of work and a willingness to roll up his sleeves with a team. "You can't show me the task beneath me," Huang said. I'll tell you what I would do.
Musk, known for his demanding work ethic and hands-on management style at Tesla and SpaceX, echoed Huang's sentiment. Recounting his experience during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, he said, "During the Covid toilet paper shortage, I made sure we had toilet paper in our factories and offices!" This is not the first time Musk has publicly praised the dedication of other executives. He has previously talked about sleeping on the Tesla factory floor to be closer to the production line and empathize with the challenges of his workers.
"The reason I was sleeping on the floor wasn't because I couldn't walk across the road to the hotel. It was because I wanted my circumstances to be worse than anyone else at the company,\" Musk explained in a 2018 interview ."Whenever they felt pain, I wanted mine to be worse.”
However, some speculate that Musk's praise for Huang might extend beyond shared work ethics. Taking into account the target of Tesla's ambitious autonomous vehicles and Musk's desire to make XAI a leading AI company, ensuring that Nvidia's stable supply of high -power chips is crucial. Interestingly, admiration seems to be mutual. In May, Huang admitted that Tesla's control in the autonomous car room said: "Tesla has reached the leader in autonomous cars, but one day each car must have its own ability."
Musk had a special and concise response to X and replied, "Thank you Jensen."
