Apple has released the first beta version of the developers of the latest software updates, with the first tester discovering a new feature in iOS 18.4 overview titled Priority Notification. Powered by Apple Intelligence, the tool uses available treatments to identify critical updates and isolate them from other notifications.
According to 9TO5MAC, this beta version disconnects priority notifications by default, but can be activated via the Notification Parameters menu. However, it is not clear that there will be a significant SIRI update. Despite reports of delays in developing a smarter assistant, Apple’s press release only mentions that "Apple Intelligence will continue to expand with new features in thecoming months, including more capabilities for Siri."
This round of beta releases includes iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, macOS 15.4, tvOS 18.4, visionOS 2.4, and watchOS 11.4. iOS and iPadOS 18.4 will introduce support for setting default translation apps globally, while users in the EU, under the Digital Markets Act, will also gain the option to change their default navigation app.
For iPhone users, the iOS 18.4 beta features a new app allowing Vision Pro owners to browse the headset’s app store, queue up videos, and install apps remotely. Additionally, a redesigned email app for Mac and iPad has been discovered. Apple also introduces the Apple News Plus Food section for iPhone and iPad, offering "tens of thousands of recipes" optimized for mobile use.
