Adobe is enhancing its Acrobat AI Assistant with new features designed to simplify the process of understanding contracts. The latest update introduces “contract intelligence capabilities,” enabling the PDF management software’s chatbot to automatically identify contracts within files and scanned documents. Once recognized, the AI can summarize complex legal language, making it more accessible and easier for users to comprehend.

The Acrobat AI Assistant, available as a $4.99 monthly add-on for both free and paid individual Acrobat accounts, now includes this contract intelligence feature. The update is rolling out globally starting today, accessible on desktop, web, and mobile platforms. Initially, the feature supports only English, with plans to expand to additional languages in the future.

Adobe highlights that the new capabilities can extract key terms, generate citations, suggest relevant questions for specific documents, and even compare changes across up to ten different versions of a contract. This functionality is designed to help users identify inconsistencies and discrepancies, as well as pinpoint critical details like important dates, specific policies, and potential charges that might otherwise be overlooked in lengthy, dense contracts.

The goal, according to Adobe, is to save users time and effort by streamlining the process of navigating complex legal documents. The company cites a recent survey revealing that 70% of consumers have signed agreements without fully understanding all the terms.

By integrating these advanced AI capabilities, Adobe aims to empower users to make more informed decisions when dealing with contracts, reducing the risk of misunderstandings and ensuring greater clarity in legal agreements. This update underscores Adobe’s commitment to leveraging AI to enhance productivity and user experience in document management.
