South Korean officials have temporarily restricted the demand for Deepseek, developed by the AI Deepseek Chinese research institute, and have received downloads of national applications. This decision was made in anticipation of an assessment of how the company handles user data. According to the personal information protection commission (PIPC), the application will be available for loading only after it complies with the Korean laws on confidentiality and implements the necessary changes.
Nevertheless, the restrictions will not affect users who have already installed the application, although the PIPC urged them not to enter personal information in Deepseek until the final decision was made. After the publication of Deepseek in South Korea in late January, PIPC turned to the company to explain its methods of collecting and processing data. The survey discovered problems with the third -part services and policies of Deepseek's confidentiality, and confirmed that user data is transferred to Bytedance, the Tiktok Maisonal Company.
DEPSEEK did not respond to requests for comments, but it was noted that the company had recently appointed a local representative in South Korea and admitted that it did not know the laws on the country's confidentiality during the launch of its service. Deepseek also said that he would work closely with the South Korean authorities to solve problems.
