Microsoft's AI-powered designer app, Microsoft Designer, is now available for iOS and Android users.

The Microsoft AI -powered designer app today comes from the preview of both iOS and Android users. Microsoft Designer allows you to use templates to create custom images, stickers, greeting cards, invitations and more. Designers can also use artificial intelligence to edit images and restyle them or create photo collages.

Originally available on the web or through Microsoft Edge, Designer has been in preview for nearly a year. It is now generally available to anyone with a personal Microsoft account and as a free app for Windows, iOS and Android. The mobile app includes the ability to create photos and edit them on the go. Microsoft Designer includes the usual text prompt for generating images, but there's also a large selection of templates you can use to create things like greeting cards, social media posts, icons, wallpapers, coloring book pages, and more. Designer also includes an avatar creator that it prompts you to use on the mobile version of the app. You can also use Designer to edit photos with AI, so you can restyle existing photos or frame them with decorative AI-generated frames. The designer also includes the ability to edit and delete backgrounds, remove people or objects from images, and add text and branding to images. Although Microsoft Designer is available as a standalone app today, Microsoft has also made Designer available through Copilot in apps like Word and PowerPoint. Copilot Pro subscribers can create images and designs directly in Word and PowerPoint, and Microsoft will soon add a new banner image generator to Word documents. Windows Insiders can also access the designer in the Photos app on Windows 11 today, which includes the ability to delete objects, remove backgrounds, auto crop and filter, all of which can be used directly in Photos. Microsoft has been testing sending photos from Photos to Designer, but is now bringing these features into Photos so you don't have to leave the app. A similar feature is coming soon to Microsoft Edge.

Microsoft Designer is available in preview with 15 free daily enhancements to create or edit AI-powered images and designs. “Enhancements are automatically available every time you create or edit an image or design in Designer, and when Designer is integrated with Microsoft applications,” said Sumit Chauhan, corporate vice president, Microsoft Office Products Group. "You can upgrade to Copilot Pro Subscribe and get 100 boosts every day."
