Meta has launched a beta program for its Meta for Education product, aiming to make virtual reality (VR) more mainstream in education.

As part of its continuing sweats to integrate virtual reality( VR) into education, Meta has launched new hookups with a number of universities in the US and UK, aimed at furnishing feedback on a new product that Meta hopes will ultimately make VR more mainstream.  The new Meta for Education beta program will see Facebook's parent company mate with 13 educational institutions, giving them access to early performances of a product that Meta has formerly been teasing for a while. The end is to" make it easier for preceptors to discover interactive and engaging content" covering subjects similar as wisdom, drug, history and languages, Meta said in a blog post published on Monday.

Before the program officially launches, universities will be assigned with testing virtual reality and mixed reality( XR) prototypes in classrooms ahead of a more formal launch in the future. Universities include Arizona State University, Houston Community College, Imperial College London, Miami Dade College, Morehouse College, New Mexico State University, San Diego State University, Savannah College of Art and Design, University of Glasgow, University of Iowa, University of Leeds, University of Miami and University of Michigan.

Meta also blazoned it would be bringing its Meta University" Digital Twin" program to Europe, starting with the University of Leeds in the UK, University of the Basque Country in Spain and University of Hannover in Germany. This comes further than two times after Meta partnered with VictoryXR to support virtual university programs in the US  in surroundings that directly replicate their real- world lot counterparts.  Meta says “ absorption courses ” have formerly begun at the University of Leeds, with an original focus on performance and theatre. The University of Basque Country, meanwhile, will follow suit in February 2025 with classes on activity and deconstruction, while the University of Hannover will offer immersive classes starting in the coming academic time.

     Virtual education

Today moment’s advertisement comes some seven months after Meta teased a new education- concentrated product erected around its Quest headsets, including a mecca for education apps and tools, and controls to enable directors to manage multiple headsets centrally. At the time, Meta said it planned to offer the product to" educational institutions serving learners periods 13 and over," but moment's news suggests that, at least for now, it's concentrated on aged learners.

But it also indicates that Meta is not abandoning its expensive VR sweats; Meta's company, Reality Labs, which is concentrated on VR and stoked reality in general, continues to lose plutocrat. According to its rearmost earnings data, the company's profit increased 29 time over time to$ 270 million, but charges also increased, performing in a loss of$ 4.4 billion for the full third quarter, a figure the company expects to continue to grow due to" uninterrupted product development" and" investments to further expand its ecosystem."
