Samsung has announced new AI capabilities for its smart appliances, including new AI-generated wallpapers for select refrigerators, as well as an AI update to its voice assistant Bixby. The updated Bixby will be available on five Samsung Bespoke appliances starting August 27.
According to society, the wallpaper generated by AI. To create them, users will choose a theme of seven categories and one of the six art styles. Once you've created a new wallpaper, you can stick it on a fridge lid or board, or save it in an album for later use. This requires a Wi-Fi connection, and users are limited to creating five wallpapers per day. An improved Bixby will be able to understand complex commands, remember previous conversations, and answer troubleshooting questions. As an example Samsung gave, this means you can ask your washing machine what time dinner is and then ask it to do your laundry an hour earlier. In another, the company suggests asking Bixby for error codes or why your refrigerator might be clicking.
However, only some Samsung appliances released in 2024 will receive the Bixby update. That includes the Bespoke 4-Door Refrigerator with AI Family Hub, the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo, and the AI WindFree Gallery Freestanding Air Conditioner.
