After bringing AI to the United States, Google expanded AI -driven search in six other countries: India, Brazil, Japan, Britain, Indonesia and Mexico. These markets will also receive local language support for an overview of AI. Searching giants reassess how they show the source material. It adds a view to the upper right to display the site icon of the AI overview of the desktop and mobile devices. Users can click on these icons to transfer to the link mentioned in an overview of AI and understand more information about the theme.

In addition, the company tests a method of displaying related links in an overview text of AI. Google says it wants to drive more traffic to external sites. “Through the AI report, we see that people are visiting a wider variety of websites to seek help with more complex problems. When people click on search results pages with AI insights, those clicks are of higher quality for the site, meaning users are more likely to spend more time on the sites they visit," the company said in a blog post about the article.

AI-powered tools have been criticized for not showing source links when displaying excerpts. News outlets have singled out search tools such as Perplexity AI, accusing it of plagiarism and unethical web scraping. Earlier this month, Perplexity’s CBO Dmitry Shevelenko told  that a “double-digit percentage”of visitors are clicking on external links. Google has yet to release any numbers on how much traffic its AI-powered search results drive.

    India focus

Google has added some India-focused features to the AI listings with this release. The company had previously tested a toggle feature that allowed users to switch between Hindi and English results without leaving the page. This feature will also be part of the AI review. The company will also allow Indian users to hear the response by clicking on the "Listen" button. The company mentioned that Indian users listen to AI summary answers more than other countries.
