Perfect timing if you want to try out Apple's AI features on your iPhone 16. Apple just released public beta versions of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.1, and they include upcoming Apple Intelligence features like text rewriting tools, the shiny new Siri design , a "Clean Up" tool to remove objects from your photos, and more. To access the beta version, you must register on Apple's beta software site.
Once you've done that, you'll see a beta update available for download and installation under Settings. Note that only a few iPhones can access Apple Intelligence features: last year's iPhone 15 Pro phones, as well as almost here iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro. IPad and Mac with M1 chips or younger can also try Apple Intelligence. Previously, these Apple Intelligence features were only available as part of the developer beta, and my colleague Alison Johnson wrote about her experience testing these tools on iOS in July. But you should know that what is included in these beta versions is not all that Apple has announced in Apple Intelligence, because there is more.
Apple plans to release the final versions of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.1 in October.
