Music streaming company Spotify today announced it is testing music videos for premium users in 85 more markets, after the company first ran a limited-market video experiment in March. Spotify initially launched music videos in beta in 11 countries, including the UK, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Brazil, Colombia, the Philippines, Indonesia and Kenya. Egypt was added to the list earlier this year.

The company did not say whether those 85 new markets would include the U.S., which is a key market for the streaming giant but was excluded from the initial territories where Music Video was available. Despite the new expansion, Music Video's functionality remains limited for paying users.

The service's music videos can be viewed on mobile devices and computers, and users can easily switch between audio and video using the switcher. At first, when you went from audio to video, the video would start to play from the start. The company has now made the switch more transparent. Spotify is also adding video indicators next to track names to make them easier to find in search results.

Users can turn their phones into landscape mode to switch to full-screen video. The company said that listeners who find a song and watch a music video in the application are 34% more often on average broadcast the song next week. Part of the attractiveness of YouTube as a music streaming service was its native support for music clips. Now Spotify is trying to convince some music video fans to turn to it.
