    India and the UK have launched a technical security initiative to enhance their strategic partnership, focusing on telecommunications security .

    The technical security initiative will update and elaborate on the extensive strategic partnership in India -Britain with a focus on promoting economic growth in the two countries. India and the UK launched a technical security plan on Wednesday to ensure telecommunications security and collaboration in key areas, such as key lines, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, quantum calculation and hygiene technology. The two sides agreed to determine the details of the updated roadmap in time based on the current actual situation and strengthen bilateral cooperation in priority areas such as trade, investment, defense, security, immigration and mobility, information technology and artificial intelligence.


    India and Britain also appreciate the "substantial progress" in free trade agreement (FTA) negotiations and "look forward to reaching a mutually beneficial" trade agreement at an early stage, the Indian foreign ministry said. The two sides also agreed to deepen defense and security cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region and beyond, as well as improve capabilities to deal with "growing threats from non-state actors," the Defense Ministry said.


    Jaishankar and Lemmy also discussed regional and global issues of mutual interest, including the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the situation in West Asia and the Red Sea, Commonwealth and UN Security Council issues, etc. A joint fact sheet on the Technology Security Initiative said the move aims to take the India-UK strategic partnership to the next level. The initiative is based on the cooperation agenda in the roadmap 2030 and will put a sharper focus on cooperation within critical and new technologies. Also, both sides will strengthen existing cooperation in various technical fields, expand the authority of existing mechanisms and create new cooperation mechanisms. and cooperation. They will also promote academic and industrial collaborations, including in wafer design, compound semiconductors and advanced packaging.


    In the field of quantum computing, the two sides will establish a high-level dialogue to gain a deeper understanding of their respective national quantum strategies and shape future research and industry outlines and cooperation opportunities.
