ADT has confirmed a recent cyber-attack compromising customer data, accessed company databases containing customer home addresses, email addresses, and phone numbers.

ADT this week confirmed that it was recently hacked, thus compromising some customer data. The home security company did not say when precisely the cyber-attack and data breach took place but disclosed that the attackers accessed company databases containing customer home addresses, their email addresses, and phone numbers. In a Wednesday evening regulatory notice, ADT said it had "no reason to believe" customers' home security systems were compromised in the incident, but did not disclose how ADT reached that conclusion.

The statement said a "small percentage" of customers were impacted but did not provide a more precise figure. As of June 2024, ADT stated that he had six million customers. ADT is a publicly traded company based in America that provides security to the public and smart home services to people and small businesses. The 14,300-strong workforce generates an annual revenue of $ 4.98 billion the firm serving an approximate 6 million customers from 200 locations in the United States.

Analysis of this breach showed that the data exposed includes very minimal information about customers, email addresses, and location information. A second actor recently contacted in early July, claimed independently to leak stolen ADT files from 2020 to 2023, but neither of these events appears to be connected with the incident. BleepingComputer has written to ADT requesting details around their cyberattack, and at this time, no statement had been made.
