    Hacker alleges theft of Piramal Group employee data

    Pirates say they sell data related to thousands of present and former employees of Piramal Indian Conglomated Group, a multinational company operated by pharmaceuticals, finance and real estate services.

    Last week, on a well -known cyber criminal forum, a pseudonym of a pseudonym, a pseudonym, published a few of the data that was stolen from Pilamal with a private amount. The data samples included names and email addresses.

    The allegedly stolen data could be a boon for cybercriminals, as they could use the information to target employees through cyber attacks. According to the Piramal Group website, the company employs more than 10,000 people of 21 different nationalities across offices in more than 30 countries. Headquartered in Mumbai, the company also has a presence in more than 100 markets around the world. Piramal manages some subsidiaries, including companies, Pharmal Pharmac Pharmac, Piramal Healthcare, Arm Developal Realty Pharmaceutical Company.

    When contacted on Tuesday about samples of the data shared by the attackers, Piramal denied that there had been a data breach on its systems. The company suggested the data could have been available from a third party.

    "After conducting a thorough investigation, we can confirm that there was no data breach within the Piramal Group. "Our IT and cybersecurity experts have thoroughly examined our systems and there is no evidence to suggest that any such information or files exist on our servers. Further, the sample data does not contain any Piramal information such as employee email IDs and appears to have been obtained from a third-party platform," Piramal spokesperson Mihir Mukherjee said in an emailed statement. Piramal did not disclose the names of the third-party platforms in question. The spokesperson also did not explain how the company determined that it had not suffered a data breach, including whether Piramal had the necessary technical means to detect the data breach.
