The analog pocket is back for another iteration, but this time it's more than just a refreshed color scheme. An aluminum version will be released this month, and the company says the new handheld is "precision CNC made entirely from aluminum." They come in four colors: natural, black, black and indigo, and will be available for pre-order on July 15th at 8:00am PT/11:00am ET and is scheduled to ship on July 17th. However, the metal body is not cheap. The Aluminum Pocket is priced at $499, a significant increase over the $219 price of the standard version. Analogue says the new version will be "available in limited quantities and will never be sold again".

Since its release in 2021, Analogue has released a few other special editions of the Pocket, including some bright colors, a glow-in-the-dark version, and the ever-popular clear case. . The device allowed gamers to play old Game Boy cartridges (and other cartridges with suitable adapters) on the handheld using modern elements such as a clear LCD screen. The Pocket is the first handheld device from the company, which has previously released high-quality game versions for consoles such as the NES (also made of aluminum), the SNES and the Sega Genesis. Next up is the Nintendo 64 with Analogue 3D, originally slated for a 2024 release.
