Samsung plans to introduce advanced technology to attract AI chipmakers, aiming to improve power, performance, and reduce voltage decreases, while mass-producing its second-generation 3nm process.

Samsung Electronics Co. revealed a series of upcoming technological advances aimed at attracting artificial intelligence chipmakers to their manufacturing operations.Although Samsung is the world's largest maker of memory chips, it has struggled to compete with TSMC in the foundry market, where companies produce chips designed by customers. Samsung laid out its chip manufacturing roadmap and laid out its vision for the age of artificial intelligence at its annual foundry forum on Wednesday at its US chip headquarters in San Jose, California.

According to TrendForce, Samsung's market share in the foundry market fell to 11% in the first quarter of this year from 11.3% in the previous quarter, while TSMC's market share increased from 61.2% to 61.7% in the same period. Income from Korean chip manufacturers restore the help of the needs of the components used in the computer system. This strengthened its main memory chip department and also provided an opportunity to obtain outsourcing orders. But Samsung has to prove that its production is improved and reliable enough to attract greater commitment from demanding customers, such as Nvidia Corp., which produces AI accelerators that are required for all major technology companies. Samsung is also facing the upcoming challenge from Intel Corp., which opens its plants, trying to win orders from former competitors.

Advances in production technology, usually signified by smaller and smaller transistor dimensions, helps improve the performance of the electronic components. The race to smaller dimensions is key to winning orders for AI processors, some of the highest performing and most expensive chips in use. The Samsung advanced process uses SO -DALLED BACK POWER Transport Network technology, which places a power guide rails on the back of the silicon waffle. The company said that compared to the first 2 -Nanometer process, this technology can improve power, performance and region, but significantly reduced voltage decreases. Samsung also said its ability to provide logic, memory and advanced packaging will help it quickly achieve semiconductor production orders for artificial intelligence-related chips.

The company predicted on Wednesday that its AI-related customer list will expand fivefold by 2028 and revenue will grow ninefold from current levels. The company announced several new manufacturing technologies and plans for future AI-enabled chips that the company says will help it win customers.

Samsung executives declined to comment on its progress in supplying Nvidia's latest advanced memory chips, or to respond to reports that Samsung has not yet qualified for such Nvidia chips. Samsung is also touting its Gate All Array (GAA) technology, which is key to its AI products. The company plans to mass produce its second-generation 3nm process in the second half of this year and offer GAA in its upcoming 2nm process. By 2022, Samsung became the first 3M nanometer quality production in the industry.
