Threadsis introducing a new feature that allows users to reshare photos and videos without including the original post, giving them the ability to add their own captions or commentary. The feature includes the original poster’s username displayed in the top left corner of the shared media, while a repost counter appears in the lower left.
This update not only streamlines the process of resharing media but also aims to address concerns about content being reposted without proper credit. Creators will receive notifications when their posts are reused and will have the option to disable resharing entirely via account settings.
From there, they can add their own text and share the post. While a similar option exists on X (formerly Twitter), it is currently limited to videos and provides credit beneath the media with a link to the original post.
