Sony's online gaming ambitions have dwindled, with six live games in 2023. Two canceled projects were developed by Bend Games and a live-service God of War title by Bluepoint Games.

Sony's ambitions in online gaming are dwindling. Just a few years ago, the company had about a dozen live games. In the second half of 2023, after a successful Hell Championship II and the devastating admission to 2024, this number had dropped to six.  According to a Bloomberg's Jason Schreier report, Sony has confirmed that the real -time service that has not been announced has been twice canceled. Project.

One of the canceled games was being developed by Bend Games, known for Syphon Filter and Days Gone. The other was a live-service God of War title that Bluepoint Games had reportedly been working on for several years. Bluepoint, which Sony acquired to get into the live streaming service business, is known for remastered and remastered games, including Demon's Souls and Shadow of the Colossus.

While neither studio has closed, Sony has yet to reveal what their next projects will be. The appeal of live gaming has waned across the industry. While games like Fortnite have proven the model's potential, crashes like Concord, Anthem, and Red fall have shown how difficult it can be to achieve sustainable success.

Sony's latest string of canceled live-service games also includes a Spider-Man title leaked during the Insomniac ransomware breach, a new Twisted Metal game, and Payback, a Destiny-linked project from Bungie. Despite the setback, Sony is still pushing forward with certain live-service projects. The upcoming champion includes the Bungan recovery "Easterling of the Sagittarius Marathon" and "Fair games", which is the robbery of Haven Studios PVP. Whether these games will be better, it is observed.
